Mainstream media, social networks and the government cooperate on public-private censorship schema
In his article linked below Matt Taibbi provides yet another review of the so-called "Twitter files" - an Elon Musk-initiated avalanche of discoveries of Twitter's underhanded content manipulation practices. In short, something named Global Engagement Center, a division of the US State Department tasked with "countering disinformation" is integrated into what Twitter as well as other outlets gets to publish or promote. So, in a way, a government-run censorship office is an active player in determining the policy of private media enterprises.
That is clever, in many ways. That also hearkens back to what I have been saying for some time - here are many underhanded schemas and arrangements throughout out mainstream institutions, they are not your friend and hence your default attitude towards them should be distrust.
As always - do your own resource, use your own brain, draw your own conclusions.
